How to move several files at once in the playlist?

MOC version:
2.6-alpha3

Hi! How do I move several files in the playlist together? For example, there are several albums in a long playlist and I want to move all tracks of an album that's listed on the top down to the bottom of the list. I've found "Mark the start of a block" and "Mark the end of a block" in the help screen (mapped to ' and "), but these keys don't seem to have any effect, so I end up moving each file individually -- which can be quite tedious.

Perhaps I'm just blind and have overlooked something obvious. But I've been using moc for a long time now (default settings, no fancy customization) and still haven't found it. So any pointer in the right direction would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! :-)

BTW: I'm using moc 2.6-alpha3 on Debian (sid), installed from deb-multimedia.org.

Within MOC, you can't. The simplest way would be to save the playlist and then just move the appropriate lines using your text editor.

I've found "Mark the start of a block" and "Mark the end of a block"...

Those relate to playpoints within a playing (or paused) audio. They're there to support future functionality, or to just note where something particular interest occurs within the audio.

Thanks for the info! It's really a pity, though, that moving blocks of files doesn't work within MOC. But at least I know now that I don't need to search for a solution any further …

Reading around some more, I've already suspected that the blocks mentioned in the help file were something different than I originally thought.

Rather than implementing it directly within MOC, would it be an acceptable alternative to launch your preferred editor on the playlist from the client?

Sure, that sounds great! Would live editing be possible (i.e. the playlist is automatically reloaded after editing, without need to restart MOC)? That would be far easier than having to manually save the playlist, edit it, and reload.

I wouldn't have thought to have implemented it in any other way.

Wonderful. I'm looking forward to see this implemented! :-D
