Feature request - multiple selection

Hello,
first of all, I would like to thank Damian for creating such an awesome application. First time I managed to compile MOC and ran it, I knew that I would never have to start XMMS again :-) (and I haven't).

Just one thing that I stumbled upon - maybe I just haven't dug enough, but is there a possibility to select multiple tracks at once? So that I could move them in the playlist at once? Say I have my mp3s named Track_1 to Tracl_18. Then, when the directory is loaded, the files are ordered like Track_1 Track_10 ... Track_18 Track_2 ... Track_9 and then, I have to move them one by one :-(.

Thanks for your answer :-)
Have a nice day!

lastfm-mocp debian init script

here is debian startup script for lastfm-mocp (source)

Usage:
1. place script under /etc/init.d
2. give it the same permissions as other scripts; on my system:
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 922 2007-08-13 20:49 lastfm-mocp
3. edit USER and GROUP variables, which are currently set to 'rs' which is my username and group
4. change DAEMON variable to point to your lastfm-mocp executable

Now you should be able to call /etc/init.d/lastfm-mocp start/stop (as root)

To make service start at boot automatically run:
update-rc.d lastfm-mocp defaults

Script is very stupid and probably breaks every debian rule for writing such scripts.

cmdline option for 'start playing but continue if already playing'

Hello,

I've configured moc as my default player for audio and playlist formats in firefox. A simple script adds the downloaded files to the current playlist with the -a option. Now I'd like mocp to start playing these files, but not to restart playing from the beginning of the playlist.
It seems that the only way to start playing is using the -p option, but this also rewinds the playlist. Is there another way to do this ?\

Thank you,

Softmixer for ALSA/OSS?

Hi,

I saw, that when using Jack as backend, there is a nice softmixer available. I would like to use a similar softmixer when using ALSA or OSS as well, as I don't like it, when music player software changes my global mixer settings. (Why are so many players doing that anyways?)

Is this possible? I have found no setting for this in the configuration docs.

Then an unrelated question: Are there MOC-packages for openSUSE available somewhere?

Thanks for reading.

OpenSuse

Hi,

I'm unable to make moc play mp3-files on OpenSuse 10.2. I tried building both versions, stable and unstable, from source. It worked, ./configure tells me that there's a decoder for mp3, ogg, flac and so on. But everytime i try to play an mp3-file moc declares:

can't get decoder for /path/to/xxx.mp3

some other players (amarok, rythmbox, even mp3blaster) work fine with mp3.

The only cause installing linux to me was the possibility of using moc, so i'm little bit worried right now...

thanks,
Thorsten

Russian MOC

I just solved my problem with russian language on Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper Drake, moc 2.3.3 =)

The related config lines look like:
TagsIconv = WINDOWS-1251:UTF-8
FileNamesIconv = UTF-8:UTF-8

(I am playing files from CD's because Ubuntu is installed on a small USB HDD, therefore FileNamesIconv could be another for HDD files).

cd-rom is mounted in /etc/fstab as:
/media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto,iocharset=utf8

Running mocp as:
sh -c "LANGUAGE=ru_RU.cp1251 LC_ALL=ru_RU.cp1251 mocp"

RUSSIAN TEXT FOLLOWS (РУССКИЙ ТЕКСТ ДАЛЕЕ):

Русский moc

Только что решил проблему с русским языком для MOC на Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper Drake, версия moc 2.3.3 =)

Строки файла config, что решили проблему:
TagsIconv = WINDOWS-1251:UTF-8
FileNamesIconv = UTF-8:UTF-8

(файлы ииграются с CD, т.к. на жестком диске очень мало места, поэтому параметр FileNamesIconv может быть другим для файлов на жесткром диске).

cd-rom монтирован со следующими параметрами в /etc/fstab:
/media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto,iocharset=utf8

русский mocp запускаю так:
sh -c "LANGUAGE=ru_RU.cp1251 LC_ALL=ru_RU.cp1251 mocp"

надеюсь кому-то поможет)))
