Display ID3 Tag instead of filename

I would like to see the option to display and list files by their metainformation, instead of the filename. That way, files will be arranged by track order regardless of the filename format. I guess this would be a bit more complicated, but it would then be nice to have separate columns for artist, track, number, etc, according to the tag.

Is it possible to configure the displayed information? E.g. I'd like to see a Year as well.

You can use "FormatString" option to customize displayed information, but from what I see, it is impossible to display year right now. It would probably not be very difficult to add, but it requires some work to make sure all decoders actually read the year from file.
