too many files ?

Hi all,

Using 2.5.0-a3 (or 2.4.4) when I try to browse into a dir that have 2463 items (2219 files) it crashes instantaniously.
With other dirs it work ok. I'm on kubuntu 8.04.
Is there any limit for number of files in a dir ?

Thanks.

There is no limit on number of files. The most common problem in such cases is that one of files causes the crash, you can try to move half of the files from this directory to another and try if MOC crashes in one of the two directories.

Hi,

I'm now on kubuntu 9.10 and all files are ok. I just did what you said (split one big music folder on four, not-so-big, music folders) and it do not crash.
As I said previously, it must be some kind of folder limit.

Thank you anyway.

Can you try to get a backtrace when it crashes as described here:
