Bug with Xserver restart.

MOC was installed with "sudo apt-get...."
so, if I press ctrl+alt+backspace and mocp is running, that when I login, mocp don't run and if I write "top" in terminal, mocp "eaten" 100% CPU.
Sorry for my ruby language and sorry that I can't give log files, but I believe that you understand me =)

... then this is the sequence of events:

  • MOC is started in an xterm.
  • You quit the MOC client ('q').
  • The MOC server is still running in background.
  • You restart the XServer ('CTRL-ALT-BKSP').
  • After restart the MOC server is looping (100% CPU).
  • A new MOC client hangs trying to connect to the server.
  • The MOC server cannot be killed (by kill or kill -9?).

I'm not in a position to reproduce this problem, but I'll try and organise an initial investigation.

That initial investigation (using Gnome) could not reproduce the problem, and without having a starting point I have no idea where MOC might be looping.

Which desktop are you using?

What is the CPU usage before restarting the XServer?

Are you restarting the XServer to resolve a problem?

So, I use MATE (GNOME2 fork)
CPU in 1-2 % when computer do nothing and 7-9% when moc play music.

after install some components I lazy to reboot machine =)
Oh, lol, I`m forget this: when I use hibernate (or sleep mode, I don`t know) this bug happens too

It`s magic, but now, when I restart X, moc don`t "bugged"
So, if it`s bug was tide, I close my question :)
P.S. If You asked about sound card, in my computer:

Simply it's not a bug or at least we have not sufficient data to believe this problem as a MOC's bug. :)
Indeed, that which you reported is not reproducible on my Fedora with Mate and Xorg 1.13 .

And what happens if you restart the XServer without having installed components?

Did any of those components have anything to do with MOC (e.g., audio libraries)?

I have used Moc about 3years on my laptop, and always this bug of freeze moc-server repeats, after hibernate, with working -- playing something -- mocp client app in urxvt and trying to start playng its always stuck.
There is screenshot of stunned app in terminal, and working top.

My OS Slackware 14.2 with awesome wm, laptop Asus X540Y

I notice from the top(1) display that MOC's CPU is at 99% which would indicate that it's looping. That agrees with the previous evidence.

Your MOC is built with DEBUG (and full marks for including the version information, BTW) so are you able to run mocp with the '-D' option and e-mail a compressed copy to mocmaint for analysis?
