Stable: 2.5.2
Development: 2.6-alpha3
I have Debian 4.0 and ASUS A6Rp laptop with ALSA 1.0.15 installed.
After entering 'mocp' in command line I get it running, but playing music gives no sound. After quitting MOC i can see the following:
Starting server
Trying JACK...
Trying ALSA...
and here's cause for it probably - something with ALSA. What should I do?

You mean you can see that
You mean you can see that MOC displays time normally i.e. you can see that it plays?
The messages are normal, it just says ALSA was detected and is used. Do other ALSA programs work like aplay (it plays WAVE files)?

I ran into same problem
I ran into same problem trying to use moc remotely logged on thru a term. Moc would 'seem' to be working but no sound at speakers. Turns out the alsa mixer was set at minimum (as I discovered by logging onto X locally). Check your alsa mixer settings (alsamixer is a console mixer level program in package alsa-utils).
