MOC as an GOD-like player server? Network use with music streaming?

Hello,

I like the MidnightCommander-like interface of MOC a lot (adding MOC support into MC could be nice, too), but I think MOC can be even more useful (even for those people that only likes things with buttons): What about MOC acting like a player daemon that even sends the audio streaming (always under a lossless format or native one, that must be configurable too) to the client application? That could be useful if having a PDA or music player with wifi on your home and using your computer as a networked-jukebox, I find it very useful. Doing plugins for the most common audio playing apps could make it a success under the geek community (probably the main user group of MOC)! 8-)

Just a suggestion for that evil TODO, but I think you need a lot more developers than suggestions and none help (I will try to learn C but it will be a difficult challenge for me, so not sure if I will learn it finally) :/

How to run MOC as an always-running daemon under NetBSD/DragonFly?

Hello,

I'm a happy DragonFly BSD and MOC user. I want to having MOC running as an always-running daemon on my machine (and soon on my server) and then using MOC in the future as a GOD-like playing daemon for stuff like hearing the music from all the home or other manners.

UADE plugin for MOC?

Hello,

I like *A LOT* to hear music from retro machines since some years ago. I discovered UADE (Unix Amiga Delitracker Emulator) and it was like a dream: hearing mostly all miggy (friendly term to name Amiga computers) on my UNIX box! Now, I use MOC as my main and only audio player (it rocks! Thanks Daper!) but sadly not has UADE support :(

What about an UADE plugin for MOC? UADE guys are very friendly and I'm sure they will help you with this task, you can ask them by email of on the forum (see the official forum, UADE section of Kohina forum, HERE). I hope to being able to hear those nice miggy tunes someday ;)

Found two MP3 vbr files running buggy

Hello,

I'm a MOC user and very happy with it. For me, it's the most stable audio player and more comfortable to use than those things full of buttons and bugs.

I'm probably one of the guys with the weirdest music taste ever. I like *A LOT* to hear C64 music and other stuff from 8bit and 16bit machines, friends that hear those "noise" (some of them say that) have headaches after an hour of hearing it and think is crap and not understand why I prefer it over "real music".

In my daily search of news about retro stuff, I did found about a nice addition for hearing the music from the exclusive Sega Master System Japanese system with a FM synth chip (a nice Yamaha YM2413, based on OPL2 (YM3812) and used as sound expansion on MSX) on an average SMS machine, some kind of adapter for the task. Some SMS games had the FM music on it, even the non-Japanese versions (don't ask why, but probably they were lazy and not changed the rom 8-)) had the same music. Here is the link to this retro thingie.

I was found two nice comparisons of the same game with PSG music (the manner to define the type of audio chip, a very common one on 8bit machines) versus the FM version of the same music (much more richer in details and less "beeps" on it): http://www.smspower.org/forums/download.php?id=146&sid=d14760deb37176a97109faad7544ac87 http://www.smspower.org/forums/download.php?id=145&sid=d14760deb37176a97109faad7544ac87

I was wanting to hear those samples, but I detected a problem when playing: the music was cutting all time! It seems like a problem when decoding those MP3vbr files, I found a bug! 8-D

I only want to know if being true about this bug or not and the difficuly of solving it. I will wait the necessary time :)

full path of songs

Hi all,

<>

that seems to be a new feature, yet, my paths are very long, and many songs don't have tags, so the whole filename/path gets shown make makes it quite 'unreadable'.

would it be a good idea, to add an option if someone wants only the file or the whole path. In my case, getting shown the last path to the file would be the best so. Maybe:

ShowPath 0 (only filename)
ShowPath 1 (last path thing)
ShowPath 2 (2 path items shown)
ShowPath -1 (full path)

or however :)

Just an idea,
Cheers and thanks

refresh after a ExecCommand1

Hi all,

(i'm beeing new to moc, but it's great (for my taste) from what I see, thanks)

I have that:
ExecCommand1 = "mv %f /home/calmar/.moc/trash/"

after moving the things to the trash, I would like to have with the command a directory refresh, is there a way to do that?

Cheers and thanks

clear-add-play command and playlist "ghost"

Hello, nice player ... Two "problems", though ...

1. In order to clear the playlist, insert a new .m3u playlist and then start playing I have to:

# mocp -c; mocp -a foo.m3u; mocp -p

... which doesn't work nice with Opera or at least I haven't found a way to put the filename in the middle of the command. Thus I was wondering if there is a simple command/config. option that does what I want?

2. If i clear the playlist, why does the player continue using it? E.g. when the current song is finished it doesn't stop, but continiues on the old playlist.

Rewind & ffmpeg

rewind not work with wma and m4a.
